Precision products for engines, transmissions and chassis
Higher fuel economy and lower emissions ... increased safety and comfort ... greater driving pleasure: faced with the realities of dwindling resources, ever-increasing global mobility, and a growing strain on the environment, today's automobiles must satisfy a wide array of demands while reconciling seemingly contradictory trends. We fully understand tomorrow's automotive engineering challenges. Together with our customers,we are hard a work developing tomorrow's solutions - today.
Schaeffler Group Automotive consisting of the LuK, INA and FAG brands, is an engineering partner and supplier to almost all automobile manufacturers. We design and manufacture innovative products and system solutions for engine, transmission and chassis applications. To serve the North American automotive market, the Schaeffler Group operates a 78,000-square-foot Automotive Center in Troy, Michigan. This facility employs 135 engineers and technicians, and houses a 30,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art test lab, outfitted with multiple test cells capable of performing extensive and controlled experimentation for critical evaluation and validation of automotive components.
INA has evolved from a provider of individual bearings and components into a supplier of comprehensive system solutions. This product portfolio spans a remarkable range of products and technological innovations; from valve-lash adjustment elements, partially and fully variable valvetrains as well as chain and belt drive systems, to transmission bearings and components, all the way to bearings for chassis and accessory drive units as well as electromechanical systems. INA developed the cage-guided needle roller bearing over 60 years ago and this new type of bearing was significantly lighter, more reliable, more compact and could be used at higher speeds - advantages that had a profound impact on the automotive industry, particularly in the design of transmissions.
LuK is a key source for automotive clutch, torque converter, hydraulic and transmission systems. From the diaphragm spring clutch to innovative transmission components, LuK has numerous products that make up a vehicle's drivetrain. Luk was the first company in Europe to market a diaphragm spring clutch and then the first dual -mass flywheel. This was followed by the introduction of components for CVT\'s that could handle 300 Nm of torque, as well as "Easytronic" - the world's first electromagnetically-automated manual gearbox. Luk also engineers and manufactures torque converters and in addition to the continued development of conventional transmission systems, LuK's current R & D efforts focus on alternative drivetrains, such as components for dual-clutch transmissions and hybrid drivetrains.
FAG is the pioneer of the rolling bearing industry whose beginning dates back to 1883. A major global supplier of bearings with core competencies in ball, taper, cylindrical and spherical bearing products. In the automotive sector, FAG develops and produces rolling bearings in high volumes for engines, transmissions, and chassis applications throughout the world. Among FAG's products are bearings for transmissions, clutches, MacPherson struts, and spring seats, but also - in particular - wheel bearings. In this area, FAG focuses on the integration of mechanical and electronic components, such as sensors in wheel bearings that measure wheel force and braking power. Today, FAG remains a pioneering innovator with a broad product portfolio for not only all types of motor vehicles, aircraft and launch vehicles, but also for applications in every industrial sector.
Together we move the world...so you can move the world.
